Belgrade Sports Monograph

500-page bilingual monograph documenting every Belgrade athlete who has won Olympic, World or European medals, from the 1960s to today.

Commissioned by the Belgrade Sports Association, this monograph brings together six decades of sporting history into a single volume. The challenge was to design a book that could carry huge amounts of data and text while still feeling like a dignified tribute to individual athletes.

I developed a flexible grid that works in two languages side by side, allowing Serbian Cyrillic and English to coexist. Section openers for each sport use wide photography running full bleed across the spread, contrasted with generous white space and elegant serif typography for sport titles and medal tables.

Because the material spans from the 1960s to the 2020s, I also handled extensive photo restoration and compositing: extending frames, rebuilding backgrounds and unifying contrast and colour using a mix of manual retouching and AI. This allowed archival images to sit naturally next to contemporary photography without losing their character.

The monograph has been printed in 5,000 copies so far, with an additional 5,000 planned, and is used as the official gift for national teams and delegations representing the Republic of Serbia.
